Believe it or not, I first met Amber and Andrew when they were the winners of a complimentary engagement session giveaway I ran back in 2015. They’re from South Jersey, but drove all the way up to Hoboken for their session. We had such an amazing time—they were naturals!—
then a few months later they decided to book me for their South Jersey Sicklerville wedding.
The proposal was one of those showstoppers that you hear about. Andrew planned a 28th birthday for Amber, taking her to New York City for the day. Her best friends met them at the Hamilton Train Station, which was just one of many surprises that day. After a quick stop at Starbucks, Amber realized they were right by the Empire State Building, a landmark she’d always wanted to see.
After a little snag getting through metal detectors (bet you can guess why!), they made their way to the observation deck. There, her friends’ significant others blocked off a corner and Andrew told Amber what she meant to him. He then popped the question on one knee with a crowd of other tourists cheering for them. A photographer who was visiting herself even took photos and emailed them to the couple.
Naturally, a couple who gets engaged at the Empire State Building has got to incorporate it into their wedding decor. With glitter, sparkle, royal blues, silvers, and golds, it was truly a glitzy, glamorous wedding fit for this fun-loving couple.
Both the ceremony and the reception were at Brigalias, a gorgeous South Jersey venue with so many different spots to shoot. It was a wedding photographer’s dream! We found some great spots near the Love sign, which is modeled after the one in Philly.
After the first look, the couple got married indoors with their mutual friend Bradford officiating the ceremony.Along with the traditional dances and speeches, the reception included an anniversary dance for all the married couples. As the DJ called out different milestones (from 1 year to 50+), couples left the dance floor with the couple who’d been married the longest, the last ones on the floor.
As you might expect from a couple like Amber and Andrew, there was plenty of dancing and laughing from everyone in attendance. They even included a box of flip flops for guests to change into so they could enjoy the fun.
The evening ended with a sparkler send off, which was the perfect finish to this shiny, sparkly wedding.
Thank you so much Amber and Andrew for having me shoot your wedding. It was a joy to work with you and I wish you a happy and long marriage.
Thanks to my other shooters, Jess and Meredith!
