Alisa and Jason got married on a warm, sunny day last August after getting engaged while on vacation in Yosemite National Park. Check out their Brooklyn engagement session here!
When Alisa and Jason reached out to me to photograph their Maplewood, New Jersey wedding, they expressed how important it was that the photography show off the emotions of the day. Happy tears, ear-to-ear smiles, and ecstatic laughter, they wanted it all!
And I think together we nailed it.
The day started with the couple, their families, and the bridal party getting ready. Alisa was at her family’s home and Jason was at his.
Many couples don’t realize the importance of a getting ready shoot, but once they see the pictures, they get it. Very little compares to capturing the look of pure happiness on the mother of the bride’s face as she sees her daughter dressed in her wedding gown. And Alisa’s mother, Carol, was no exception!
The couple said “I do” in Our Lady of the Valley Church in Wayne, NJ, surrounded by friends and family. And it ended up being the perfect backdrop for the romantic wedding they’d envisioned.

During the cocktail hour we spent some time on Maplewood Country Club’s golf course finding scenic spots for formal portraits of the couple and their wedding party. This group made my job easy, as they were smiling, laughing, and generally just full of energy.
This venue is full of gorgeous areas to shoot, I only wish we had more time. Of course, we wanted to make sure they could enjoy the rest of their cocktail hour.
As you can probably imagine, the grand entrance into the reception hall was full of whoops and cheers as the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and newly married couple danced their way into the room.
When I asked them what important moments they wanted captured, they mentioned the traditional Jewish dance, the hora, as well as Greek and Italian dances, which of course got the all the guests out of their seats.
Everyone—including the flower girl—was tearing up the dance floor.
